Warwickshire Church and Marquee Wedding Reception at Home

I’m just driving home from Liv and Tom’s wedding. I have just left an almost Love Island-esque back garden with a beautiful marquee set up. I left with the girls demolishing the wedding cake while dancing around to Taylor Swift on the dance floor, but I will start slightly before then to catch you up.

I met Tom at the beautiful Mary Magdalene’s Church in Tamworth-in-Arden. It’s the most gorgeous church with the most exquisite stained glass windows. Churches make really good backdrops for weddings. Anyway, if you ask me, it’s no secret that I quite like a church wedding, but there was something special about this one. It was just another level. Tom and Liv had a beautifully intimate ceremony. Liv was walked down the aisle by her dad, so very traditional. A very traditionally untraditional day: very traditional service, very traditional ceremony, but a more non-traditional reception.

At Liv’s childhood home, in her back garden, her mum and dad hosted, I think, around 50 people, so really their nearest and dearest—which is what we love to see. Tom, a contract caterer and incredible chef, whipped up pulled pork, tacos, burritos, chips, beef brisket, and nachos for all his guests. I must confess, seeing them serve the food in their wedding attire, which stayed absolutely immaculate, was very, very impressive indeed, with the aid of some very fetching matching Mr. and Mrs. aprons!

Liv was an absolute sport and jumped the fence in her wedding dress to go and take some sunset portraits, which absolutely did not disappoint! Although we did leave the shoes at the gate; we decided climbing over the gate in her heels was too much.

The groom made his own wedding cake, which they cut and then devoured with a bread knife. People eating cake on the dance floor—chocolate and red velvet cake, classic choice if you ask me—dancing around to ‘You Belong with Me’ by Taylor Swift, is where I told you I left them.

It was just a really wholesome day. I think they really nailed the fact that your wedding day can be exactly what you want it to be. They mish-mashed the traditions they wanted to honour and did away with the ones they didn’t. Their day really honoured them as a couple, a really laid-back and relaxed day. A wonderful day for the new Mr. and Mrs. Moore, and I feel very honoured to have been part of it.
